Updated show notes:
We discussed Oh Hell Nah's recent piece on Jezebel entitled "I Wanted to Marry a Latino and Fell for a White Guy," the new fiction book called The Swinger not so loosely based on Tiger Woods, and Dr.Ulli Ryder's wrenching piece "Caylee Anthony or Alexis Glover?: Race and the Murder of Children." In addition, we announced an upcoming roundtable discussion moderated by ITYC about the recent spate of coverage on mixed race people with Fanshen Cox co-founder of the Mixed Roots Film and Literary Festival, Dr. Ulli Ryder and ITYC guest alum Dr. Marcia Dawkins.
Finally, during a mini Mama Geek rant, I revealed that since I couldn't attend San Diego Comic Con this year, I've been living vicariously through the tweets of various attendees. One of the panels that I would not have missed is Racebending's "Diversity and Fandom 102: How You Can Make a Difference." I'm still trying not to cry about missing the True Blood panel.

Today was indeed a Freaky Friday. Our much anticipated interview with René Syler of Good Enough Mother was thwarted by a power outage right here at ITYC Central. We lost power and Internet for several hours and when it came back up, it was gone again for another few hours. Luckily, the power is back up (I'm crossing all my fingers and toes that it stays that way) and we will be live at 8pm EST with another Friday Freestyle Call-In Edition.
Join us in the chat room or call-in to say hello as we discuss the latest news in the world of multicultural, multiethnic, mixed families and make an announcement about a special ITYC Roundtable taking place on August 9th. The call-in number is (626) 213-5777 and the chat room will be open!
